Psychotherapy aims to improve an individual's well-being and mental health, to resolve or mitigate troublesome behaviours, beliefs, compulsions, thoughts, or emotions, and to improve relationships and social skills.

Most counselling courses will offer one-to-one sessions, between the client and therapist, but some can be are conducted with groups and include families. Typically relationships and couples therapy or counselling will practice both individual and couple sessions.

The goal of counselling is to enable the individual to make critical decisions regarding alternative courses of action without outside influence. Counselling will help individuals obtain information, and to clarify emotional concerns that may interfere with or be related to the decisions involved.

I am a listener, I am empathetic, I demonstrate â€‹unconditional and positive regard for your wellbeing. I will ask open questions to assist you to clarify and explore your thoughts.

Counselling

Confidentiality is paramount. Whether you are in the public eye, a senior business figure, or an individual I have just walked alongside. I care about your well being and believe through counselling you will improve your state of mind and general health.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you manage your problems by changing the way you think and behave.

It's most commonly used to treat anxiety and depression but can be useful for other mental and physical health problems.

How CBT works

CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. CBT aims to help you deal with overwhelming problems in a more positive way by breaking them down into smaller parts. You're shown how to change these negative patterns to improve the way you feel.

Unlike some other talking treatments, CBT deals with your current problems, rather than focusing on issues from your past. It looks for practical ways to improve your state of mind on a daily basis.

Psychotherapy

Sessions are one-to-one,  between the client and therapist, but some are conducted with groups including families.
